TEAM HISTORY

Thunder Basketball started with a vision back in January / February of 2005. Dan Hair was running the Carlisle Girls Youth Basketball program and wanted to create a team of 6th graders that would be competetive in nature and bridge a gap between 5th grade and the start of playing in Middle School in 7th grade.  He spoke with players that he felt would be a good group of competetive girls, and in the Fall of that year the Carlisle Thunder team was born.

That first season, the team played in 40+ games between the Mechanicsburg Travel League and various tournaments.  They were able to amass a overall season record of 33 - 8.  For the next 7 seasons the Carlisle Thunder was known, and respected, in the Cumberland County area, and beyond.  The team ceased operations after the 2011-2012 season.

Fast forward to January 2024 when Coach Dan decided to resurrect the team under the new name, Thunder Basketball.  We fielded a team of nine 8th graders, one 7th grader and one 6th grader.  We made the club an AAU team and participated in numerous tournaments.  Now in 2025 we have expanded to 3 teams and look forward to a succesful year all around.
